Well I registered as knivesout yesterday but haven't received my password. (Could you try re-sending it to novaheat50 at hotmail.com?)
I read Perdido Street Station last month and am now zipping though The Scar. I am not much of a fantasy fan - sf is more my forte - but Mieville is a writer who defies categorisation, I think, and is definitely the sort of writer I had hoped to discover in fantasy!
I look forward to getting my password and shooting the breeze about Mieville's works here.
PS: The Tain seem to be out of print? How does one get a copy - has it been anthologised?

It has indeed been anthologized. Well, kinda. It's in a book called Cities, which has three other novellas. Not huge for an anthology, but I suppose it is one, nonetheless. Cities hasn't been released in the US yet---but soon it shall be. Check Amazon.com for the date.
The Tain was a limited edition novella published by a small UK independent publishing company called PS Publishing. They do small run limited edition copies of usually novella-length works by talented folk such as China, usually the revered of the SF/Fantasy/Horror medium.

Thanks for the information, I shall look for that anthology. I love fictional cities so the name of the anthology is very intriguing to me. I've seen the PS site. They have some really good releases, including works by other favourites of mine like Ken MacLeod, but I'm afraid the prices are a bit high for me as yet. I still haven't got my password.

G'day Deweb, welcome!
Your English doesn't seem too bad to me. I don't think it'll be a problem
Enjoy the forums!
