G'Day all. I'm personally wondering when the roleplaying game based on China's setting is going to be coming out (and seriously contemplating writing one) I've not yet finished Iron Council - but loved the previous two and the world they created.

Hello, I randomly found this board googlesearching on something completely unrelated to China Mieville. I'm a big fan of his writing and i moderate the Mieville community on LiveJournal, here: www.livejournal.com/community/bas_lag/Nice to find another forum for the discussion of China's work. I just posted over there about the existence of this place, so perhaps it will gain you some more new members.

Hello fellow Bas-Lag fans! I'm a long time lurker on Ladybee's Mieville community, but never quite worked out how to sign up or post. Now that I've found this place I can finally communicate to the broader Mieville fan community! (at least I hope so...this board seems like it might be dead) (ladybee, if you're reading this I would love if you would drop me a line on my email adress: venasque@hotmail.com and let me know how I might be able to join the Runagate Rampant community) I'm an artist, and have been very inspired by Mieville's Bas Lag series. I've illustrated many of his characters and races for my own amusement...his work is a mind-bogglingly original and as yet relatively untapped resource, it's a thrill to attempt to depict things that have not yet been illustrated. My online gallery is up on elfwood, here: elfwood.lysator.liu.se/loth/n/i/nickspacekole/nickspacekole.htmlplease, feel free to look around and comment. to start, here's an illustration I did of the Cray huntsman from the beginning of 'The Scar': elfwood.lysator.liu.se/loth/n/i/nickspacekole/craypencil.jpg.htmland here's an early attempt at drawing Cactacae: elfwood.lysator.liu.se/loth/n/i/nickspacekole/returnofthemack.jpg.htmlThere's quite a few more illustrations and I'm always doing more. I would love to hear any feedback from anyone on this board, drop me a line!

Hello all!
I've been a fan of Mieville for an year and a half now. His books have managed to astound me every time I read them.
I found this board by accident. I was googling for some Bas-Lag maps - for my roleplaying project - and suddenly I found myself from this board.
My other favourite authors include: Neil Gaiman, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Daniil Harms, Dan Simmons, Michael Moorcock and so on..

Hi there... DedHed here... Just registered and posted my first message to cast my vote about Hedrigall. I've read PSS and the Scar only, so I'm staying out of that Iron Council board till I can read it spoiler-free, but I'm interested to hear how you folks think it stacks up against the first two Bas-Lag books. And I'm looking forward to talking with other fans of this author! Later...

Hi. Found out about here from the Malazan forums as well. I've read Perdido street station and the Scar. Currently he's the third best author I've read (just after Steven Erikson and George RR Martin).
Does anyone from the malazan forums actually not like Mieville?

Hi all -
I get the honor of seeing my name as the newest member so I am saying hi here, too! - I did the order a little skewed and read TS and then PSS. I am waiting for the paperback of Iron Council before digging into that one.. I was blown away by Mieville's writing and have been telling everyone I know about these books and the world of Bas-Lag.
Looking forward to posting and talking with like-minded readers. What else are people reading now? I read too fast and run out of new books before i know it - so any recommendations are good to have.
take it easy all /chani

Hello all, I'm a fantasy and science fiction fan from Denver, Colorado. I collect books, and occasionally I even read them. I've been an active member of a local SF book reading and discussion group for over ten years.
I've read and enjoyed Perdido Street Station, The Scar, and The Tain. Iron Council is on my to-be-read shelf.
My "name" is something that I initially made up for a Dungeons and Dragons character.

Hello all. My name's Chris. I've read the three Bas-Lag novels and China's short story Details, and I think he's the most interesting young author around. I'm so glad to have come across him so early in his career.
My favorite of his books that I've read is The Scar, which my wife is now reading.
I don't know how much time I'll put in around here, but I figured I'd check in and say hi.
