Rather good website you have there. I'm impressed. You have hoarded a great deal of information to your pages, astounding.
I'm working on a single man roleplaying project myself, namely trying to work out the Bas-Lag to d20 system - for our own troupe to use, of course. Nothing commercial.
Thank you for the inspiration, it's good to know that I'm not the only one working on to bring the breath of Mieville's world to a gaming table.

Not a problemo.
BTW, I suggest trying a system other than D20 for Bas-Lag - D20 is only suitable for heroic games, not street-level stuff. The PCs will end up being neigh-unkillable which is totally out of genre for Bas-Lag.

You're right, of course. Bas-Lag isn't some hack 'n' slach fantasy world and I know this. My only excuse for using d20 is the fact that I have just finished teaching the rules to my new troupe. So, at least for a few games, I'll use the d20. However, I'm quite stuck with it, having played with d20 rules for about two years now - mainly, that is. Do you have any good suggestions about what system would be good? The new WOD seems interesting, but I'm still not sure.. What system do you use, anyway? I tried to find it out form your homepage, but didn't find any answers. Or then I'm just plain dumb. yours, DreamDeva

Well, I'm trying to convert it to the Hero system at the moment - but you really need to like numbers and rolling lots of D6 for that (http://www.herogames.com have a look at Fantasy Hero). I like hero because it has rules to model just about anything within its world simulation (which is all a roleplaying system is, really - a method to simulate a setting and have it interact with the players) It could work for D20 - if you don't allow anyone to ever get above level 3 or so - and if you got rid of the classes. And just about everything else - oh well... I have been in a roleplaying game set in New Crobuzon - and we used Amber for it. Amber is a very versatile system, but may be too abstract for you. Another favourite of mine is Fudge - because it is simpler than Hero, can be any genre, and is free- www.panix.com/~sos/fudge.html#downloadsome conversions here- www.rpggateway.com/Systems/Generic_Rule_Sets/Fudge/index.phpMind you, there are also a hell of a lot of conversions for the hero system too, have a look here- www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24968

I've added the dreaded Slake Moth for the Hero System (On my New Crobuzon Hero site, under Flora and Fauna). I'm not sure I made it powerful enough.....
