The forum seems to be going through a quite phase (ie its dying), so has anyone got any suggestions for it? Especially on how to get more people to know about it?

Well, I've told four or five of my friends who are big fans of CM. They seem pretty interested, I'll be persistant in making sure they start posting.
Also, how about creating chat rooms for those of us on MSN/Yahoo/AOL. Just create a chat called "China Mieville" or "Perdido Street Station", see who comes in, and tell them about the forum.

Give me a logo and I'll add it to the Hot Sites list on Emerald City. It needs to be 110 or less wide, height optional.

After 15 years of being a BBS Sysop (pre-internet dial-up message boards for those who don't remember), I learned that message boards need someone to keep the topic moving until a critical mass of people get involved.
You've probably noticed that on most sites, there are a small handful of people who actually start discussions. Most (who post) simply reply. I would grant topic moderator status to a variety of trusted recruits. Makes them feel like they are part of what's going on and have a sense of ownership. Their name is up there so they'll work harder both in posting and recruiting. If they don't work out, let them go. (Make that clear up front so there are no hard feelings.)
Might be obvious, but you wanted suggestions. You can attract a million new users, but unless you have that core, there won't be anything for them to respond to. They'll just fade away.
Good luck!

Cool, these suggestions look good. Voramorak: Alas, i hate chat rooms. I just don't understand how to work them or make them. Cheryl: Cool, i'll work on one. Neil: Yeah, i know what you mean. Hopefully we will gain this "critical core" soon:)

I think book forums often go through a "slow" phase after their initial start up. i.e How many posts did Malazan have in the early days. Interest will generally pick up when new books arrive...or when more copies are sold in the U.S.
Keep the faith SL
( Apologies for my absence,i've been on holiday )

Well man, I'd certainly be willing to start up a chat, start recruiting. We need to build this forum up, make it a haven for people thirsting for info on CM and his works.
It was a haven for me, I wanna keep it that way.

Mmmh...yes...modhood...it looms, much like the falcon before it strikes it's prey...er...sorry.
I tend to slip into character sometimes. My bad!
Also, have three people reading the book at the moment, loving it. China's work is being spread like a plague!! The good kind of plague, of course...

I'll stick a link on my site if you like. But that won't do you too much good for now, because it's not up yet!
It will be soon though, as soon as I pull my finger out. I've just about got the layout sorted and I have some ideas for content. Just got to find the free time to do it all!
