Anyone else enjoyed the writings of Liz Williams (esp. Banner of Souls) or Candas Jane Dorsey (Black Wine). They are both far future sci-fi, while Black Wine takes more of a fantastic bent to it and Banner of Souls is more techy (even if it is tech run by ghosts from the future).
For Banner of Souls, what esp. struck me was Williams' use of "The Changed" for gene-tinkered and grown beings. Even the surface of Mars is alive with both nano-bonded flesh and nanotech ghosts.
Both great writers who make powerful use of the female perspective in their lead characters (or in some cases, all their characters!)
Worth checking out for sure.
