So what is missing here is a thread about one of China's favorite writers, M. John Harrison. He's a little hard to get hold of in the US, but his latest novel, Light (which won the Tiptree and should have won the Clarke and the Hugo if there was any justice around here - and yes, that does mean it is better than The Scar) will be available from Bantam next year. In the meantime, here's an interview I did with the man for Strange Horizons: www.strangehorizons.com/2003/20030609/harrison.shtml

Thanks Cheryl.
I read "Light" a few months ago and found it a pleasure and pain in equal measure. the three disparate plots failed to gel for me. Although i especially enjoyed the contemporary element with the tortured physicist.
Have you read "The Luck in the head", ( the graphic novel version ) published about 10/12 years ago. This is the only other piece of MJHs i am familiar with. Good...if very strange.

I've not see the graphic version of The Luck in the Head, but it is available as part of the Fantasy Masterworks volume of collected Viriconium stories.
