Hi all! I'm so glad I found this board, I thought was the only person in the world who like China's work! ;D I'm delighted to see there are people who want some intelligence served with their fantasy.
Anywho... Howdy!

I'm pretty inexperienced at message boards, so I'll apoligize for my lack of etiquitte. HUGE Mieville fan. Cool site you've got here. If you like the tone of his stuff, you should also check out Mark Danielewski's novel called House of Leaves.

Greetings,
I'm here by way of the Malazan Empire board. Will try not to knock over anything expensive.

Hello, peers and fellow plebeians. Been hooked on the books since the first few pages of PSS. I mean, a fat man having breaky with a bug-headed woman? I thought, this is the stuff I've been craving for ages, godsdammit!

G'day Spoon! Welcome
You're not the famous Spoonie of Malazan fame, by any chance?

Certainly not famous. Thankyou for the welcome. I'm really not trying to be a suckhole or anything, but I have to thank Mr Mieville for exposing his imagination to the general population. Most of you fellows would surely feel the same. I used to stick to old Wells and Lovecraft when it came to the wierd genre (genre loosely); seeing covers containing sprawling pictures of dragons and scantily clad He-Man types really irked me as I scouted fantasy sections. Did Tolkien write the Law when it came to characterization and themes within the subject? No, he f...ing did not. I thank China for flaying and quartering the "epic". Champion. Ok, I'm done.

Hey, all,
I recently picked up a copy of The Scar at Archon in St. Louis, not realizing it was the second book in the Bas-Lag series. I have almost finished it and am thoroughly enjoying it. I can't wait to read the others. I have already picked up a copy of King Rat as well.
I just typed Bas-Lag into Google and found this site. I'm excited about meeting some people who appreciate China's work and I hope to discover some other authors and news as well.
Looking forward to getting to know you.
;D
